The Upside Down Movie is an unfinished special episode that was fully scripted by David Collins and Shane Dundas from 2008 to 2010. It was planned to act as the proper series finale of The Upside Down Show. The movie was first announced by the newspaper The Australian in August 2008. (source) Nickelodeon Australia funded the script development, but the crew needed financial support from outside investors to start filming, which never happened in 2009. Collins started an online petition in 2010 (source) to show public interest in the movie, but it never gained enough support and the project has been in limbo ever since. In January 2010, David Collins announced that the script had been finished but that outside financing was an issue. He also confirmed that Nickelodeon Australia was "hugely supportive of trying to get the film made and have been partially funding the script development."
